There have been reports in the press this morning that the Gunners are set to offer new deals to both Mesut Ozil and Nacho Monreal as Wenger looks to make the pair part of Arsenal’s long term plans.
The German play-maker has a deal that runs until 2018, although he has more than two years left on his contract at Arsenal, the club want to tie him down and are set to improve his current deal. The player is reportedly on £140,000 a week, the highest at Arsenal and it looks like he is set to increase that pay gap.
Monreal’s contract is also similar, his deal expires next summer. With interest in the summer from Athletic Bilbao Wenger said there was no new development in terms of a contract.
“I’m happy with his performances but at the moment we are not in negotiations for a new contract,” he said at the time. However as Monreal is now Arsenal’s first choice left back, it looks like Wenger has changed his mind.
