After Arsenal’s humiliating defeat against Bayern midweek, the Gunners face an easier challenge on Monday night against non-league side Sutton United. Wenger faced a difficult press conference this morning, although there was talk about the defeat and his future, the manager did also talk about the game in hand.
With the Gunner’s Captain Laurent Koscielny coming off early in their defeat against Bayern Munich, he looks a doubt for the game. The manager told the press that Laurent will have a scan today, and till they get the results back then they won’t know the seriousness of the injury.
The last round in the F.A Cup saw a few youngsters getting some game time in the 5-0 win against Southampton. It looks likely this will be the case this round, with an easier draw and a chance to keep the key players out of the spotlight.
This is what Wenger had to say about the selection he might go for in the game:
“It will be a Normal team, I gave a chance to [some young players] because they deserve to play, it’s a good opportunity to show they can do well.
“One or two might have an opportunity to show that they can play every single game now.”
Hopefully we’ll see the likes of Rob Holding and Lucas Perez start, both of them have seemed to impress every time they get on the pitch.
