After that win, we’re still in with a chance for top four, whether we will make it is another matter. However, for now, let’s reflect on the game. Here are the Arsenal player ratings:
Petr Cech – 7
Made some great saves in the first half which kept the game level, though he didn’t have much to do in the second half.
Holding – 6.5
Pretty solid in the first half, though he gave the ball away a few times, didn’t have too much to do in the second half.
Shkodran Mustafi – 8
Not much to talk about in the first half made some good tackles and kept possession well. Didn’t have to much to do but with a 90% pass sucses rate, there’s not too much you can complain about.
Nacho Monreal – 7.5
Went well down the left-hand side, won quite a lot of aerial duels in the first half as well.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 7
Did something to his hamstring in the first half and was replaced by Bellerin.
Aaron Ramsey – 7
Managed a decent shot in the first half but it deflected wide off Welbeck. Got the assist for the second goal with a great header back across the box for Giroud.
Granit Xhaka – 7
Linked the play well and even managed a 92% pass success in the first half and 94% in the game overall.
Kieran Gibbs – 7
Managed to put in some good balls when he got in dangerous positions, but nothing came of them.
Mesut Ozil – 7.5
Got the assist for the first goal and managed to link the ball well from back to front. Though he seemed to give the ball away a few times.
Alexis Sanchez – 8
Superb for his goal, that turn that left the two Saints players on the grass was superb. Looked threatening throughout the ninety minutes, don’t know what we’d do without him.
Danny Welbeck – 7
Looked dangerous but nothing could come from all the cross that were delivered to him in the first half.
Hector Bellerin – 7
Olivier Giroud – 7
Francis Coquelin – 6
