Arsenal – the next season

It has been 13 years since Arsenal won their last Premier League trophy and the fans have already lost their patience with Arsene Wenger. As things stand now, the Gunners will play in the Europa League next season and, no doubt, the club chiefs will give their best to reinforce the squad in the summer transfer window in order to bring glory days back to Emirates Stadium. For this next season preview we partnered up with to give an inside look what needs to be changed in London.

Over the years Arsenal have established themselves as a top-four team in the Premier League, but they have slim chances of booking their place in the Champions League for the 21st consecutive season. A great number of Arsenal fans are angry with Arsene Wenger and the French tactician will certainly be under big pressure when season comes to an end. Wenger admits that Arsenal are having a season to forget and it remains to be seen if he is going to quit his job in days to come.

Speaking of Arsenal star players, Alexis Sanchez will almost surely leave the club if Arsenal fail to book their place in the Champions League. “El Nino Maravilloso” is hungry for trophies and it remains to be seen if the club owners will be capable of finding an adequate replacement for the Chilean ace this summer. Alexis Sanchez has been scoring goals for fun in the 2016/2017 season and many football experts believe that he is irreplaceable.

Summer signing Granit Xhaka has established himself as a first-team regular under Arsene Wenger, but you should bear in mind that the Swiss international has been named in the worst Premier League transfer XI of the season, alongside Bravo, Djedje, Fonte, Hernandez, Lescott, Ibe, Sissoko, Tore, Janssen, Zaza. Xhaka is a good player, but that’s all, and Arsenal chiefs will have to be very active in the summer transfer window if the Gunners are to play an important role in the English top flight next season.

Danny Welbeck will be first-choice centre forward if Alexis Sanchez leaves the club at the end of the season and, no doubt, Arsenal need to sign a top-class striker if they are to be competitive in the Premier League next season. Alexandre Lacazette will surely be on Arsenal’s radar this summer and signing of the Lyon striker would help Arsenal improve offensively. Carlos Bacca is yet another prolific striker who could join the Emirates Stadium outfit, but Lacazette is younger and quicker than the Colombian attacker and he is definitely a better option.

Arsenal defence has been pretty shaky in the 2016/2017 Premier League campaign and the club management considers reinforcing the back-line. Shkodran Mustafi made a good start to the season, but the former Valencia centre back then suffered a dip in form and it has to be noted that Laurent Koscielny has been having his ups and downs this term as well. Schalke left-back Sead Kolasinac has already signed a deal (free transfer) with Arsenal, but the club owners should add more high-profile defenders to the squad if they are to make amends for the unsuccessful season.

Taking everything into account, some changes will have to be made at the Emirates Stadium in days to come if Arsenal are to get back on course. Arsene Wenger has been in charge of the club since 1996 and it seems as if a new era is about to begin. Latest Premier League tips conclude there is a lot work to do for the Gooners.
