Arsenal 2 – Chelsea 1: Player Ratings

posted in: Player Ratings | 0

Although domestically it was one of our worst seasons in a while, to end the season with a bit of silverware is great and hopefully, we can have a productive summer and rebuild. Here are the Arsenal player ratings for the match:

Ospina – 7

He didn’t have much to do in the first half, although he did have a few fumbles of the ball. He could have possibly done better with the goal, but can’t complain overall.

Mertesacker – 7

Looked great for someone who hasn’t had a start all season, I can see him playing that central defensive role in future with younger players around him.

Monreal – 7

Looked strong throughout, although he picked up a yellow card early on, which was worrying towards the end of the game when he was being a bit rash with challenges.

Holding – 6.5

Still amazed we managed to get him so cheap, he did struggle with Costa throughout the game. But seemed to get the better of him come the end of the match.

Bellerín - 7

Although he wasn’t playing in his preferred position he still looked really strong, bombing up and down that right-hand flank.

Xhaka - 7

Looked confident throughout, played some great balls forward in the first half and had a good volley which the keeper had to put wide. He’s starting to look like an excellent signing for us.

Ramsey - 8

Moved the ball well and found himself in a lot of room throughout the game. He must love this competition, that run for the winning goal was absolutely superb.

Oxlade-Chamberlain – 7

Although he had to switch flanks due to injuries, he still looked threatening throughout. Made some great runs and held onto the ball well.

Sánchez – 8

Did great for the first goal, though some might argue that it was a handball. I really do hope we throw everything at him this summer in order for him to stay in North London, he really is irreplaceable.

Özil – 7.5

Him and Alexis absolutely dominated the play today, the runs he made were superb was unlucky not to get a goal late on.

Welbeck – 7

I really do prefer having him upfront to Giroud, he provides so much more to our game and spreads the opponent’s defence so easily.

Giroud - 7

Coquelin – 6.5

Elneny - 6
