After the delayed kick-off, Arsenal managed to get all three points for the first game in their group stage. We thought in the Match Preview that Arsene Wenger would start with four at the back, but instead, he opted with three and changed it at halftime when the Gunners were 1-0 down. The North London team did bring it back with Sead Kolasinac scoring the first, Alexis Sánchez scoring a great goal and then Hector Bellerin finished it off with the third.
David Ospina – 6
He should have made a better clearance for their goal instead of not even making the halfway line. Apart from that, he did well; plus he’s finally learned how to come off his line.
Rob Holding – 6
He’s starting to really lose confidence; Wenger brought him off at half time so they could change formation. It might be best for him to have a stint in one of the youth teams and come back stronger.
Per Mertesacker – 7
The German did well considering he hadn’t played in so long, however, you could see him starting to get tired towards the end of the game
Nacho Monreal – 7
The Spaniard was reliable like normal.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles – 7
Out of place at left wing-back, but performed better in the second half when he was moved into midfield.
Hector Bellerin – 8
He was great going forward, but like normal his final ball was poor. Though he managed to get the third goal to seal all three points.
Alex Iwobi – 6
Didn’t play well when he was part of the midfield duo, like Holding he’s going through a difficult period.
Mohamed Elneny – 7
He never stopped running, was involved in the first goal also.
Theo Walcott – 5
He was caught offside quite a few times. You could tell it was a while since he’s played first-team football, maybe a few games for the youth team would help.
Alexis Sanchez – 8
The Chilean was frustrating to watch during the first half but after that, he really got into the swing of things and managed to score that spectacular goal to put Arsenal in front.
Olivier Giroud – 6.5
He had some great hold up play, but that was about it, I don’t think he’ll be keeping Lacazette out of the line-up anytime soon.
Sead Kolasinac – 8.5
Jack Wilshere – 6.5
Reiss Nelson – 6.5
