Arsenal hosted the recently promoted side at the Emirates, with the Gunners needing to gather all three points after rivals dropped points the day before. The manager went with a strong side, with Mesut Ozil coming back into the starting line up, with no players being rested ahead of the teams game against Manchester United at the weekend.
Wenger’s side managed to take the lead early on with Alexandre Lacazette finding the back of the net within four minutes. Aaron Ramsey played a lovely back heel assist which found it’s way to the Frenchman who provided a classy finish.
The Gunners went from strength to strength looking like they were going to find a second with Alexis then Lacazette who managed to spin from a wayward ball and nearly score from the byline. However, towards the end of the half the visitors came out at Arsenal, with the Yorkshire team looking like they might find an equalizer.
Olivier Giroud came on for his fellow countryman who picked up a knock in the first half. The Frenchman had a great chance with just the keeper to beat, to which he took the ball round, but then continued to strike the ball onto the post.
The substitute finally managed to find Arsenal’s second, with Ozil getting the assist. A one two between Ozil and Alexis with the number 11 then finding the Frenchman in the centre of the box who slotted it past the keeper.
The German managed to get another assist only minutes later playing a cross into the Chilean who smashed the ball above the keepers hands into the top of the net.
The player managed to get his name on the goal sheet straight after, with the Gunners scoring three within four minutes. Aaron Ramsey played a through ball to the German who slotted it past the keeper into the bottom right corner.
Olivier Giroud managed to make it five for Arsenal with only two minutes of the match left. Sead Kolasinac worked his way into the box, with the Frenchman taking it off his toes at the last minute to bury the ball into the back of the net.
