Reports have been circling that the Gunners are targeting Valencia’s centre half Shkodran Mustafi. This is due to the fact that the North London club are short on centre half’s, with Per Mertesacker’s recent injury.
The German centre back damaged his knee in the friendly again Lens last week and is expected to be on the sideline well into next year. The Arsenal manager has already said that the Gunners need to add an expirenced defender to the squad before the new season.
The story first broke in Plaza Deportiva, which is a Valenica based outlet. It says that the Gunners have been in touch with the La Liga club. The German international joined them from Sampdoria teo years ago, however it has been reported that the player is keen for a move.
Mustafi has had some experience of playing football in England, having spent time in the North West playing for Everton. However he never actually managed to start a game for the club.
