Bordeaux hoping to permanently sign Arsenal’s Debuchy
French Outlet ‘Le Parisien’ has reported that Bordeaux have opened talks with the Gunners over a permanent deal for Arsenal’s right back Mathieu Debuchy.
The French defender spent the latter half of last season on loan at the French club as he attempted to make the France squad for the Euros, nevertheless he was still left out. Debuchy made nine appearances after joining in January.
The 30 year old started in Arsenal’s pre-season friendly against Lens on Friday night and will travel to the US as part of Arsenal’s squad. However seeing as Wenger is unlikely to drop Bellerin anytime soon; it looks like the right back will have to push for a move to be able to play regular first team football.
The defender moved from the North East down to North London in 2014 for around £10 million pounds and has another 3 years remaining on his contract.
With options in the form of Calum Chambers, Carl Jenkinson and Gunners new signing Rob Holding, it looks like Wenger will have to make a decision soon on who will be his first and second choice right back.
